Last night: I murdered beets and posted a shot of my Lady MacBeth hands stained red on Facebook. I got my hands mostly cleaned by morning. For lunch i finished eating the leftovers: beet, apple, mandarin salad warmed up in the oven which was preheating for the chestnuts, now roasted, shelled, and nibbled.

I'm not sure what i'm going to do with the chestnuts. I was going to chop some up and garnish the cranberry sauce -- but i burnt the sauce while playing with our new legos.

The crab is smelly -- i should have transferred it to tupperware or something -- but i've been told it should be fine despite buying it on Sunday. If you never hear from me again: blame crab. I picked it all out of the shell, and scrubbed down the refrigerator. Christine's stomach was bothering her: she thought the crab smelled great. She had it just with cocktail sauce. My nose couldn't figure that out. I made the chickpea flatbread with lots of celery and onion and the crab for myself. Crabcakes, i guess: very good, despite my apprehension. Next year, i'll risk them running out of crab so i don't have to worry.

I've splurged on wheat today: the petit mincemeat pies we bought at World Market/Cost Plus, biscotti from my mom, cookies from DP. Will probably continue with some of the fruitcake tomorrow.

My M is has been unwell. Last night he seemed very distressed but internet reading and conferring on last observed eating led us to think it was appropriate to wait and see if this lasts a little longer: he was well on Wednesday night. I worried a great deal going to bed and while i was gone this morning, but he seems better as the day passed and ate his dinner with relish. (And just demonstrated that he's still not quite well.) We have high protein food since Greybeard's diabetes. Hunny-bunny seems to need more fiber.
