We were up later that in intended watching the two and a half hour 2008 film Un Conte de Noel
by Arnaud Desplechin. Existential, creatively filmed, and a little long and painful to watch: in the end, rewarding as the dysfunctional family experiences a subtle healing. Did you have a painful visit with extended family this past Christmas? Might be too much, too soon. Trying to give up smoking? It's French, and the doctor smokes. Not for you. Visually, aurally wonderful. I can't think of what i'd cut, because the richness of the many story lines is part of the experience.
What else of yesterday? There was something, something! Have i already forgotten? I wrote notes to thank the mail artists who included me in their mailings and notes to Friends in the city. I still need to write staff and family and friends: priorities are a challenge.
Laundry! Finally, done!
I've resurrected my all-consuming account. I don't know what i want to do about my series watching. I've added Primeval and MI-5/Spooks Season 7 to the list, but there's no sane way to add the random Sherlock Holmes and Law and Order and misc Discovery/History channel amusements. And why? Why would i track them? The casual series watching does create a texture in Christine's and my daily tapestry, one that changes with the series as we plow through them. I can imagine being curious about how that general direction changed (when did i shift away from more science fiction fantasy to murders?)
Perhaps i should pull the "watched" list from Netflix on a monthly basis. It won't distinguish between Christine and I, but it will produce the sense of background -- ah, it was easy (easier) to just copy all of 2008 into a file. That's good enough.
OK, so no tracking the "casual" watching on All-consuming.
