end of year questions via LJ's iterum and YOU
I recognize i'm often an opaque journaler, rambling on about things in detail but failing to provide enough context to illuminate the detail.
Here's a list of random-ish 2010 questions i've copied from
iterum. I'm going to answer them as QUICKLY as i can instead of churning out essays on each topic.
I invite you to add more questions. I'm pretty sure i allow anonymous comments, so do that if you wish!
1. Will you be looking for a new job in 2010?
I am open to new opportunities. (I doubt any will come up that would make leaving my current job appropriate, but i'm open.)
2. Will you be looking for a new relationship?
With...? *wants to quibble with the question*
My relationship with Christine is ever evolving and i hope it grows and changes in the new year. Is that a new relationship? Is the sea new?
3. New house?
I'd rather not move, but there are ways we could continue to renew our current abode.
4. What will you do differently in 2011?
I'm involved in the fiscal year planning this year, so i will probably do more release management according to the Product Management Life Cycle.
5. New Year’s resolution?
Don't believe January is a good time to make them.
6. What will you not be doing in 2011?
Driving in the HOV lane to work.
7. Any trips planned?
February to the Quaker LGBTQ gathering, March to More Fiscal Year Planning.
8. Wedding plans?
A colleague has them.
9. What’s on your calendar?
The big calendar in my cube has when Peoplesoft has to be entered and approved for Jan through july and an indication of when the new fiscal year begins. I'll mark holidays next.
10. What can’t you wait for?
Um. I guess i can wait for every thing i have to wait for.
11. What would you like to see happen differently?
Magic Eight Ball: "Ask again later."
12. What about yourself will you be changing?
I want to continue changing in many ways, but there no discontinuities or major course changes planned.
13. What happened in 2010 that you didn’t think would ever happen?
While there were surprises, none were out of the realm of possibility.
14. Will you be nicer to the people you care about?
Don't know about nice, but i'll try to communicate with those at a distance more.
15. Will you dress differently this year than you did in 2010?
Apparently i will need to deal with a change in size. I'm still pondering whether i wait out the current changes, only replacing what is desperately needed as a replacement.
16. Will you start or quit drinking?
Neither.
17. Will you better your relationship with your family?
See 14 and people i care about.
18. Will you do charity work?
I have community service work, but i don't think of it as charity work.
19. Will you go to bars?
In the hotel near the Ohio office, for sure.
20. Will you be nice to people you don’t know?
Nice isn't my word, but yes.
21. Do you expect 2011 to be a good year for you?
I sure hope i keep an even keel compared to 2010.
22. How much did you change from this time last year till now?
This is a hard question as it implies some linear scale on which i can measure change. That triggers the judgmental assessment that the depression of this past year was standing still or backsliding, when i think i did grow in my understanding of putting work in a right place,
23. Do you plan on having a child?
No.
24. Will you still be friends with the same people you are friends with now?
I do not see major discontinuities here, just continued shifts and changes. (This is a weird question. Do folks plan to drop friends? Is this for folks in school?)
25. Major lifestyle changes?
I don't think of this as a "lifestyle change" but Christine is going to have a major change, gender reassignment surgery, some time in the late spring or early summer. The week in the hospital and weeks of recovery loom, but i do think that this will be a good change for her that will be a good change for us. It's been a long time in the pondering.
26. Will you be moving?
See #3.
27. What will you make sure doesn’t happen in 2011 that happened in 2010?
I think it's my fault that things aren't ready for customers when it's not.
28. What are your New Year’s Eve plans?
Puttering around with Christine.
29. Will you have someone to kiss at midnight?
Every midnight, but i'm never up.
30. Wish for 2011?
Continued growth in treating myself and the world with compassion.
And that Christine's surgery [#25] is successful and without complications.
