I have fought to keep from coughing all weekend. Going to see someone's gardens in the country -- how troublesome can that be? Pretty bad when smoke from a fire drifted through. As i looked at the hostas, my brow furrowed. On inquiry, it's their two free ranging Great Danes that protect their hostas (and two shaggy donkeys). So, if i was willing to really ward off deer AND have lots of nonnatives, including invasives  -- hostas! helebores galore traveling off down the slope! A pond filled with yellow flag! Italian arum! -- yes, i too could have a lush shade planting pretty quickly.

I did find out about https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/phacelia-bipinnatifida/ and wonder how well it would fight stilt grass. It's lovely even if it doesn't....

The NY Times alerted me to the hard rocking trio of Muslim women VOB https://www.voiceofbaceprot.com/ which reminded me to go check the hard rocking trio of Mexican sisters, The Warning, and find i've missed one album and a new one is on it's way.

We have hostas which are coming on fine and the deer keep to the woodland locally.

oooh I like the flower!! Those would be pretty around a tree here *starts plotting and adding to her list*
and it's tempting to take the "easy" way out, I give you lots of kudos for going native, it's impressive to me

I'm always impressed by people who keep up with contempopary music. I depend on my son for more popular music, and on the Harrogate music scene for contemporary(ish) classical.

Allergies suck.

Your garden is like a sonnet: a making within stricter rules than many follow. Part of what it is, is a statement about and a making of the world.

I've never been able to keep a hosta from being devoured by deer for more than a few weeks, but have loads of helebore. I am still bummed about hostas; I have tried numerous times, and don't know how they survive. When I bought this house there were some large ones. I can only think they were sprayed heavily? They did not have donkeys or Great Danes.
